ALPINE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Sul Ross State University 3-0 Friday afternoon in Alpine. The win improved the Cru to 21-2 on the season and 14-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Lobos went to 6-13 overall and 5-9 in league play.
UMHB opened with a 26-24 first-set win before dominating the next to sets 25-8, 25-17.
Miranda Klein led the Cru with 10 kills while
Sarah Paolini had nine and
Jenna Gillean added eight. UMHB totaled 42 kills on 98 attacks, hitting .265 in the match.
Cory Jo Martin led the Cru with 28 assists while
Adrien Valdez served four aces. Defensively, Novak led with 12 digs followed by Gillean with 10. UMHB totaled six aces, 57 digs and five team blocks, limiting the Lobos to a .030 hitting percentage.
UMHB returns to action Saturday, October 20
th in a 2 p.m. match at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
