BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team dropped a close contest to No. 10 Hardin-Simmons University Monday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cowgirls to 12-1-1 on the season and 9-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cru fell to 9-4-2, 8-2-0 in league play.
UMHB outshot the Cowgirls 3-0 in the first half, taking a scoreless tie into half. Kenne Kessler netted the game-winner for Hardin-Simmons in the 53
rd minute, hitting in a corner kick from Josey Meyer for the 1-0 lead. UMHB pushed offensively late but Hardin-Simmons limited the Cru to just one second-half shot.
Madison Link led the Cru with two shots while
Taylor Marques and
Bailey Aleman each added one. Kessler, Meyer, Randie Dennison and Mackensie Moreno each added shots for the Cowgirls.
Emmy McMaude took the loss for UMHB, allowing one goal with three saves. Caitlin Christensen earned the win for Hardin-Simmons, making one save in the shutout.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 27
th in a 1 p.m. match at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
