SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell 3-1 to Trinity University Wednesday evening in San Antonio. The loss dropped the Cru to 22-3 on the season while the Tigers improved to 21-5.
UMHB opened with a 25-22 first-set win over Trinity, but fell 25-18, 25-14, 25-22 in the next three.
Sarah Paolini led the Cru with 12 kills while
Hope Hoelscher added 11.
Corinne Novak and
Jenna Gillean were also big contributors offensively, putting up nine kills and eight kills, respectively.
Cory Jo Martin led UMHB with 24 assists while
Miranda Klein added 17. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans and
Jenna Gillean led with 16 digs each while Klein added 11. Paolini was the leading blocker for the Cru, going up for one solo block and three block assists. UMHB hit .142 in the match, slamming 46 kills on 155 total attacks. The Cru totaled two service aces, 53 digs and five team blocks. Trinity University hit .275 in the contest with 62 kills on 149 total attacks. The Tigers totaled five aces, 75 digs and nine team blocks.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 27
th in a 12 p.m. match against Our Lady of the Lake University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
