Men’s Soccer beats ETBU 2-0 in ASC opener

ROUND ROCK, Texas   – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team used a pair of freshman to open American Southwest Conference play with a 2-0 win over East Texas Baptist University. UMHB improved to 5-0 with the win while the Tigers moved to 2-2.

Patrick Roach gave the Cru a lead in the 8th minute, one-touching a cross from Jack Coad to give the Cru advantage. The duo paired up again for the Cru's second goal in the 60th minute when Roach knocked in a header off another Coad assist for the 2-0 lead. UMHB withheld a late offensive surge from the Tigers to preserve the 2-0 win.

Roach led the Cru with seven shots while Nick Villanueva added two and five other Crusaders added one. UMHB put eight of their 14 shots on goal and limited the Tigers to just two shots and only one on-frame. Travis Aday earned the win in the net for UMHB, making one save in the full 90-minute contest while Bryant Botello took the loss for the Tigers, allowing two goals and making six saves.
