Men’s Soccer routs LeTourneau 6-1

BELTON, Texas   – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team routed LeTourneau University 6-1 Saturday evening in Belton. UMHB improved to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference action with the win.
 
LeTourneau jumped to a quick lead when Varney Carter capitalized on a mishandled kickoff 11 seconds into action. Tyler Childs scored the equalizer for UMHB in the fifth minute, heading in a pass from Nick Villanueva to even the game at 1-1. Patrick Roach followed with the game-winner in the 12th minute off an assist from Caleb Vandergriff. Martin Lopez was the final Crusader to score in the first half, giving UMHB a 3-1 lead after 45 minutes of play. Seth Neveloff, Roach and Marcelo Gaitan all went on to score second-half goals. UMHB put 13 of their 16 shots on goal and limited LeTourneau to just two shots. Roach led the Cru with four shots while Gaitain added three. Roach led the Cru with two goals while Villanueva, Vandergriff, Rolando Nieto, Steven Dang and Matthew Demerson each recorded assists.
 
Travis Aday earned the win in the net for UMHB, making one save with one goal allowed. C.J. Levya took the loss for LeTourneau, giving up six goals and making six saves.
 
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, September 20th in a 7:30 p.m. game at the University of Texas at Tyler.
