ROUND ROCK, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team opened American Southwest Conference action with a 6-1 win over East Texas Baptist University Thursday afternoon in Round Rock. The win improved the Cru to 2-2-1 on the season and 1-0 in ASC play while the Tigers moved to 2-2-1 on the season and 1-0 in league action.
UMHB's offense exploded in the first half, taking a 5-0 lead into halftime.
Madison Link opened netted the Cru's first goal in the ninth minute, one-touching a pass from
Chelsea Graham for the lead. Graham followed that with a goal of her own in the 12
th minute before recording assists in Link's 16
th minute goal and
Taylor Marques' 23
rd minute score.
Emily Blaettner put the Cru up by five in the 36
th minute with an unassisted goal. UMHB totaled 12 shots in the first half, putting nine of those on frame. Blaettner scored one more goal off an assist from
Madison Link in the 52
nd minute to give the Cru a 6-0 lead. UMHB gave up just one goal at the 82:33 mark.
Link led the Cru with five shots while Blaettner added three and Graham had two. UMHB totaled 15 shots, putting 12 on goal and scoring six.
Emmy McMaude earned the win in the net for UMHB, playing 73 minutes with three saves. Karrigan Falber took the loss for the Tigers, allowing five goals with four saves.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 15
th in a 5 p.m. game against LeTourneau University at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
