BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team edged the University of Dallas Crusaders 1-0 in a hot, hard-fought contest Sunday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 2-0 on the season while Dallas fell to 1-1.
Martin Lopez scored the lone goal of the contest in the 13
th minute of play, netting a shot from 35 yards out to give the Cru the 1-0 win. UMHB outshot Dallas 11-5 in the match, putting three shots on goal. Lopez led the Cru with three shots followed by
Jack Coad and
Patrick Roach with two each.
Travis Aday earned the win in the goal for UMHB, making four saves in the full 90-minute contest. Sean Carlin took the loss for Dallas, allowing one goal with one save.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, September 7
th in a 7 p.m. (ET) game at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. The Cru will play one more game in Atlanta on Saturday, September 8
th before hosting East Texas Baptist University in the American Southwest Conference opener on Thursday, September 13
th at 7:30 p.m. at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
