BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon in Belton.
Jason Goodin gave the Cru a lead nine minutes into the contest, scoring off an assist from
Marcelo Gaitan. UMHB held that lead through most of the first half until the Lobos evened the contest in the 42
nd minute.
Rolando Nieto scored the game-winner for the Cru in the 54
th minute before
Jasen Zirkel added an insurance goal in the 86
th minute.
UMHB totaled 11 shots in the contest led by Nieto with three. The Cru put eight of their shots on frame and limited the Lobos to just five. Alexis Tellez took the loss for the Lobos, playing 58 minutes with two goals allowed.
Ethan Rimbey earned the win for UMHB, allowing one goal and making four saves.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 17
th in a 7:30 p.m. match at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss.
