ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team fell 2-1 to McMurry University Saturday night in Abilene.
McMurry took an early lead in the 10
th minute when Miguel Esteban Jr. scored off an assist from Luis Lopez and Jesus Gil. Gil and Esteban Jr. teamed up again right before halftime with Esteban Jr. scoring his second goal of the contest in the 43
rd minute. The War Hawks held a 2-0 lead through halftime and the majority of the second half.
Tyler Childs put the Cru on the board in the 88
th minute, scoring an unassisted goal to end the game with a 2-1 McMurry win.
UMHB took 16 shots in the contest with eight on frame.
Patrick Roach led the Cru with four shots while
Nick Villanueva and Childs each added three. UMHB's defense limited McMurry to just seven shots with four on frame.
Dalton Lloyd took the loss in the net for UMHB, making two saves with two goals allowed. Francisco Avilez earned the win for McMurry, allowing one goal with six saves.
UMHB fell to 9-5-1 on the season and 6-3-0 in American Southwest Conference action with the loss. The Cru returns to action on Monday, October 28
th in a 7:30 p.m. match at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
