Men’s Soccer beats UT Dallas in overtime

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team overcame a late game-tying goal by UT Dallas to edge the Comets 3-2 in overtime Thursday in Richardson.
 
The Comets took a lead in the 25th minute an inadvertent goal was scored off a UMHB player. That lead held until the 65th minute when Patrick Roach scored off an assist from Nick Villanueva to even the contest at 1-1. Seth Neveloff followed that with an unassisted goal in the 68th minute to give the Cru a 2-1 lead. Zack Till scored the equalizer for UTD in the final seconds, netting a shot off an assist from Adrian Vasquez to send the contest into overtime. It took just one overtime shot to seal the win for the Cru when Seth Neveloff scored another unassisted goal in the 93rd minute.
 
UMHB totaled 12 shots in the contest, led by Roach with six. The Cru put six shots on frame and limited the Comets to just five on target. Dalton Lloyd earned the win in his debut with the Cru. Lloyd allowed two goals and made three saves in the contest. John Nicknish took the loss for the Comets, giving up three goals and making three saves.
 
UMHB improved to 5-3-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in American Southwest Conference play while the Comets fell to 7-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in league action. The Cru returns to play on Saturday, October 5th in a 3:30 p.m. match at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville.
