Women’s Soccer edged by UT Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team was edged 2-1 by UT Dallas in its ASC road opener Thursday evening in Richardson.

Rachel Bloom gave UMHB a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute, scoring off an assist from Taylor Marques. UMHB held that lead until the 50th minute when Rana Hussein scored the equalizer for the Comets. The game remained tied until the 88th minute when Keely Fillman scored the go-ahead goal for the Comets with less than two minutes left in regulation.

UMHB totaled 12 shots in the contest, led by Bloom, Marques, Grace Greenly and Tyler Pierce with two each. UT Dallas recorded 10 shots with both teams putting five shots on frame. Emmy McMaude took the loss for UMHB, allowing two goals with three saves while Morgan Sherman earned the win for the Comets, making four saves.

UT Dallas improved to 9-0-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in American Southwest Conference play while the Cru fell to 4-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in league action. UMHB returns to play on Saturday, October 5th in a 1 p.m. match at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville.
