BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Concordia University Texas 3-0 Thursday evening Belton. The win ended the Cru's regular season with a perfect 15-0 record in American Southwest Conference action, sealing their second consecutive undefeated West Division title.
UMHB took the first two sets 25-22, 25-22 before finishing off the Tornados with a 25-16 third-set win.
Corinne Novak led the Cru with 12 kills followed by
Kayla Janikula and
Miranda Klein with nine each. UMHB hit .227 in the match, slamming 43 kills on 128 attacks.
Cory Jo Martin led UMHB with 34 assists. Defensively, Novak and Klein led with 14 digs while
Jenna Gillean added 13 and Adrien had 12.
Sarah Paolini led UMHB's defensive efforts at the net, recording five blocks while Klein added four. UMHB totaled 70 digs and 12 team blocks, limiting the Tornados to a .096 percentage in the match.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, November 1st in a pair of matches at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton. The Cru opens with a 12 p.m. contest against Texas Lutheran University before facing Austin College at 4:30 p.m.
