SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Christopher Newport University Friday evening in San Antonio. The loss dropped the Cru to 2-4 on the season while CNU moved to 6-0-1.
Neither team was able to score until the 34
th minute when Riley Cook put the Captains ahead, scoring off an assist from Sarah Rhiel. CNU held that lead through the second half, finding the back of the net again in the 83
rd minute to put the Captains up 2-0. UMHB was unable to score, ending the contest with a 2-0 decision to CNU.
Taylor Marques led the Cru with two shots and one on-goal as UMHB totaled four shots in the contest. The Captains totaled 23 shots, led by Cook with 10.
Emmy McMaude took the loss for UMHB, allowing two goals with 12 saves in a full 90-minute contest. Haley Eiser earned the shutout win for CNU, making one save.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 21
st in a 5 p.m. match against Grove City on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
