ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team scored a late come-from-behind goal to tie Grove City 2-2 Saturday evening in Abilene. The tie moved the Cru to 2-4-1 on the season while Grove City went to 1-4-2.
Maria Rico opened scoring in the contest, scoring off an assist by
Chelsea Graham in the 27
th minute for a 1-0 UMHB lead. The Cru held that lead through the first half, limiting the Wolverines to just four shots in the half. Lizzy Swoboda scored the equalizer for the Wolverines in the 77
th minute, converting a penalty kick before Michaela Burke scored the go-ahead goal four minutes later.
Dannah Fritschle evened the contest for UMHB in the 83
rd minute, scoring off an assist from
Taylor Marques. UMHB outshot the Wolverines 4-1 in overtime but was unable to score, ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
Chelsea Graham led the Cru with five shots while
Grace Greenly added four. UMHB totaled 27 shots in the contest, putting 13 on frame. Emmy Maude played the full 110-minute contest in goal for the Cru, making four saves with two goals allowed. Columbia Harkrader earned the decision for the Wolverines, making 11 saves with two goals allowed.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, September 26
th in a 5 p.m. match against LeTourneau University at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
