BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team grabbed a first-half lead and then stretched it out later in the game as the Cru rolled to a 3-0 victory over Austin College Saturday night in Belton. UMHB improves to 1-2 on the season with the win. The loss drops the Roos to 2-1 on the season.
The Cru grabbed a 1-0 lead on
Kristen Burdick's goal off a corner kick from
Zoe Elledge in the 26
th minute.
Maria Rico added a goal off of
Kennedy Clark's assist two minutes before halftime to give UMHB a 2-0 lead at the break. The Cru had some great looks to extend the lead in the second half only to see them sail wide.
Chelsea Graham finally made it a 3-0 game when she converted an assist from
Taylor Marques in the 77
th minute.
Emmy McMaude and
Marcella Lancon shared time in goal for UMHB with both players recording a save. Maya Erwin had 12 saves in goal for Austin College. The Cru outshot the Roos 25-5 in the match with 19 of those shots coming in the second half.
The UMHB women will continue their home stand with a pair of matches next weekend. The Cru hosts Schreiner University on Friday before hosting Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday.
