BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged Belhaven University 1-0 in an overtime match Saturday in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 10-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in league play while the Blazers moved to 6-6-1 and 2-5-1 in American Southwest Conference action.
UMHB outshot the Blazers 20-2 in the contest, allowing just one shot on frame and not allowing the Blazers a shot in the second or overtime periods. UMHB put 10 shots on frame and allowed just four corner kicks in the match.
Maria Rico was the hero for the Crusaders, scoring the game-winner in the 99
th minute.
Grace Greenly led the Cru with six shots while Rico added four.
Reagan Williams earned the win in the net for the Cru. Williams made one save in the shutout overtime win. Julianne Wilson took the loss for the Blazers, giving up one goal with nine total saves.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 21
st in a 5 p.m. match against McMurry University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
