Women’s Soccer edges UT Dallas

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged the University of Texas at Dallas 1-0 Saturday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Comets fell to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.
 
Maria Rico's eighth minute goal proved enough for the Cru to beat the Comets. Rico finished off a corner kick from Chandler Jackson and flick from Brynna Gardner give UMHB a one-goal lead. The Cru 11 shots in the contest with three on frame and did not allow the Comets a shot until the 88th minute.
 
Rico led UMHB with four shots followed by Grace Greenly with two. Reagan Williams earned the win in the net for the Cru. Williams made a save in the 88th minute to preserve the shutout for the Cru.
 
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 7th in 1 p.m. match at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
