BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged the University of Texas at Dallas 1-0 Saturday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Comets fell to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.
Maria Rico's eighth minute goal proved enough for the Cru to beat the Comets. Rico finished off a corner kick from
Chandler Jackson and flick from
Brynna Gardner give UMHB a one-goal lead. The Cru 11 shots in the contest with three on frame and did not allow the Comets a shot until the 88
th minute.
Rico led UMHB with four shots followed by
Grace Greenly with two.
Reagan Williams earned the win in the net for the Cru. Williams made a save in the 88
th minute to preserve the shutout for the Cru.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 7
th in 1 p.m. match at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
