ALPINE, Texas. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team scored seven goals in a shutout win over Sul Ross State University Thursday afternoon in Alpine.
Gabby Gibson scored the game-winner in the fourth minute before
Maria Rico scored her first goal in the 15
th minute.
Kennedy Harris added one more for the Cru in the first half, giving UMHB a 3-0 lead. Rico opened the second half with back-to-back goals in the 49
th and 58
th minute to complete the hat trick.
Tyler Pierce also added back-to-back goals, scoring at 82:16 and 83:30 for a 7-0 UMHB win.
Rico led the Cru with four shots followed by Pierce,
Grace Greenly and
Mackenzie Worthy with three. Worthy also recorded an assist in the match. UMHB's defense allowed just eight shots in the contest and only five on frame.
Ainsley Westlake and
Reagan Williams split time in the net for the Cru, combining for five saves.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 9
th in a 1 p.m. contest at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
