Men’s Basketball Earns First Road Win

AUSTIN, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team edged Huston Tillotson University 92-87 Tuesday night in Austin. The Cru improved to 2-0 overall while the Rams fell to a 1-6 record. 

 

The contest began with back-and-forth play and knotted up in the 13th minute of action. The Rams managed to breakaway from there, taking a 47-33 lead at the half. 

 

UMHB came out hot in the second half with a ten-point run in the first three minutes of play. However, Huston Tillotson expanded their lead back to 11 with eight minutes remaining. The Cru kept fighting and took their first lead in the half with a far-out three-pointer by Carson Hammond with 2:43 left in the contest. Kyle Wright sealed the win for the Cru, knocking down the Cru's final go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left on the clock. UMHB's 92-87 win was solidified with free throws from Josiah Johnson and Luke Feely

 

UMHB was led in points by Johnson with 22 followed by Ty Prince with 21. Hammond added 17 to the Cru's total 92 points, with four made baskets from beyond the arc.


UMHB returns to action on Saturday, November 27th in a 3:00 p.m. game against Arlington Baptist University in Belton.
