Men’s Soccer advances to ASC semifinals with 2-1 win over East Texas Baptist

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over East Texas Baptist University Tuesday in Belton to advance to the semifinal round of the American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.
 
Patrick Roach put UMHB up in the 16th minute, converting a penalty kick for a 1-0 Cru lead. East Texas Baptist evened the contest in the 19th minute when Isaiah Simien scored on a free kick from Zach Schmidt. UMHB outshot the Tigers 9-7 in the contest, putting four shots on frame.
 
Ethan Dacaret scored the go-ahead goal for the Cru in the 50th minute, hitting the back of the net off a ricochet. UMHB's defense fought off a late offensive surge by the Tigers to preserve the win.
 
UMHB totaled 15 shots in the contest with six on frame. Roach led UMHB with four shots, followed by Dacaret and Ethan Buchanan with three each. Dalton Lloyd earned the win in the goal for the Cru. Lloyd made three saves in the full 90-minute contest.
 
UMHB returns to action in the American Southwest Conference Semifinals on Friday, November 5th. The Cru earned the right to host the 2021 ASC tournament at the UMHB Soccer Field. UMHB will face the winner of Ozarks and Hardin-Simmons at 5 p.m. with the tournament's second semifinal game to follow at 8 p.m.
