COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team fell to Colorado College 67-58 Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs. The Cru moved to a 1-2 record while the Tigers improved to 2-2 overall.
Colorado College created a quick lead with a game-opening 16-point run, finishing the first quarter up 18-5. Bethany McLeod helped create a spark for UMHB with a three-pointer in the first minute of the second quarter. The Cru used five steals to close Colorado's lead to eight, going into the half with the Tigers leading 32-24.
McLeod and Alexia Martin led UMHB with five points each in the first half. Defensively, Catherine Kaiser led the team with five rebounds while McLeod added four steals.
The second half of the contest proceeded with back-and-forth scoring. Arieona Rosborough had a jumper in the final seconds of the third to keep the gap at ten, sending the Cru into the final quarter down 39-49. The Tigers went on a six-point run to extend their lead in the first two minutes of fourth-quarter action. The Cru outscored Colorado College 19-18 in the fourth, but failed to close the gap, falling 67-58.
Cheyanne Bonilla led UMHB with ten points, while McLeod added eight to the team-total 58. Kaitlyn Kollmorgen played a big factor defensively with seven rebounds, a steal and a block. Arieona Rosborough had a team-high five rebounds for The Cru.
UMHB returns to action Saturday, November 27th in a 12:00 PM (MT) contest against Nebraska Wesleyan University in Colorado Springs.
