BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team earned an 88-71 win over Schreiner University Monday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 8-2 on the season while the Mountaineers fell to 3-7.
Both teams scored 17 points in the first quarter, as
Ashley Faux lead the Cru with seven points. UMHB held the Mountaineers to just five total points in the second quarter, cruising to a 40-22 halftime lead. UMHB totaled 23 points in that frame, led by
Kaitlyn Kollmorgen with six, Faux with four and
Bethany McLeod with three. UMHB shot 66.7% in the second quarter of action, limiting the Mountaineers to a 6.3% shooting percentage on 16 total shots.
UMHB outscored the Mountaineers 22-16 to hold the lead, cruising to an 88-71 win over the Mountaineers.
Alexia Martin led the Cru with 16 points, followed by Kollmorgen with 12 and Faux with 11. Kollmorgen was also UMHB's rebound leader with seven, followed by
Arieona Rosborough with six. UMHB totaled 49 rebounds, 25 assists and 11 steals in the contest while the Mountaineers had 33 rebounds, 12 assists and 12 steals.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, January 3
rd in a 5:30 p.m. contest against Concordia University Texas at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
