BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team earned a pair of sweeps over West Division rival Hardin-Simmons Tuesday evening in Belton, improving to 4-0 on the season and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action.
UMHB took the first match 25-13, 25-10, 25-15.
Hannah Frasca led the Cru with 11 kills while
Kylie Metcalf and
Kate Myles each added five. UMHB hit .270 in the contest, slamming 39 kills on 111 total attacks.
Alli Pierce led the Cru with 14 assists followed by
Maddison Heibel with 13. Defensively,
Maddie Gillispie led the Cru with 18 digs, followed by Frasca with 17 and Pierce with 14. UMHB also recorded eight team blocks in the match, led by Metcalf with six and Frasca with four. Hardin-Simmons hit -.017 in the match, led by Taylor Salone with 7 kills.
The Cru took the second match 25-20, 25-21, 25-14.
Kayla Janikula and Frasca each had seven kills while
Sarah Grace Merry added six. UMHB hit .219 in the second match with 37 kills on 114 total attacks. Heibel led the Cru with 16 assists and three service aces. Gillispie was the defensive leader, recording 30 digs while Janikula added six blocks. Hardin-Simmons hit .057 in the second match, totaling 30 kills and 64 digs.
The Cru returns to action on Wednesday, March 3
rd in a 5 p.m. doubleheader against McMurry University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
