WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor soccer team opened the 2020-2021 season with a 1-0 win at Division II Midwestern State University Saturday evening in Wichita Falls.
The first half played scoreless with Midwestern State out-shooting the Cru 7-5. UMHB opened the second half with an offensive surge.
Patrick Roach scored 19 seconds into the half to give UMHB a 1-0 lead. MSU took nine shots in the half to UMHB's six, but
Dalton Lloyd made four saves to preserve UMHB's 1-0 win.
Roach and
Brody Conley led the Cru with three shots each while
Nick Villanueva added two. UMHB totaled 11 shots with five shots on frame. Erwin Regules totaled five shots and led MSU's 16-shot effort.
Ethan Rimbey and Lloyd split the shutout for the Cru. Marc-Antoine Huzen and Israel Gonzalez split time in the goal for MSU, making four saves with one goal allowed.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, February 8
th in a 7:30 p.m. match against Ottawa University (Arizona).
