Elkins gets win 100 as UMHB cruises to 5-0 victory

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Women's Soccer Head Coach Barry Elkins earned his 100th win at UMHB as the Cru earned a 5-0 win over Concordia University Texas Friday evening in Austin.  The win improved the Cru to 6-0 on the season while Concordia Texas fell to 0-5-1.
 
The first half played scoreless with UMHB out-shooting the Tornados 10-4. Grace Greenly, the Tyler Jermstad State Farm Player of the Game, opened the second half with three goals for UMHB in six minutes, scoring at 48:05, 53:21 and 53:59. Tyler Pierce added two more goals for UMHB in the 73rd and 84th minute, sealing the 5-0 win for the Cru.
 
Zoe Elledge, Ashley Watson, Saige Serigny, Brynna Gardner and Kelsey White all recorded assists for the Cru. Greenly led the Cru with five shots, followed by Maria Rico, Emily Blaettner and Pierce with two each. UMHB totaled 17 shots with 11 on frame. Defensively, UMHB allowed the Tornados just four total shots and only one on frame. The Cru defense did not allow CTX a shot in the second half. Kylie Bowman took the loss for Concordia Texas, making five saves with five goals allowed. Emmy McMaude earned the shutout win for UMHB, making one save.
 
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, March 27th in a 7:00 p.m. contest against Hardin-Simmons University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
