BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team won its sixth consecutive American Southwest Conference West Division title with a pair of 3-0 wins over Howard Payne University Wednesday evening in Belton. UMHB improved to 14-2 on the season while the Yellow Jackets fell to 2-18.
 
UMHB used a 12-2 run to pull away and win set one 25-15. Maddie Gillispie served six consecutive points while Corinne Novak led the Cru with three kills in the run. UMHB followed that with dominant 25-10, 25-11 wins to take a 3-0 win in the first match. Novak led the Cru with 12 kills, hitting .435 in the match. Hannah Frasca added 11 kills as UMHB totaled 40, hitting .319 as a team. Alli Pierce led UMHB with 34 assists while Frasca was UMHB's defensive leader with 15 digs. UMHB limited the Yellow Jackets to a -.019 percentage with 17 kills on 108 total attacks. The Cru totaled 65 digs and six team blocks in the match.
 
The Cru won the second match 25-15, 25-20, 25-13. Novak led the Cru with 12 kills followed by Frasca with nine. UMHB totaled 39 kills in the match, hitting .360 against the Yellow Jackets. Pierce was UMHB's assist leader again with 33. Defensively, Frasca led the Cru with 17 digs followed by Gillispie with 12. UMHB limited the Yellow Jackets to a .077 percentage in the match with 52 total digs and two blocks.  

UMHB earned the right to host the 2020-2021 American Southwest Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament. The event will run Friday, April 9^th – Saturday, April 10^th at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton. More information on the event will be available at cruathletics.com
