BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team edged McMurry University 2-1 in overtime Friday evening in Belton. The Cru improved 2-0-1 on the season while the War Hawks moved to 0-3-0 overall.
UMHB took the lead in the 15
th minute when
Bode Bleamaster scored off a pass from
Price Peden. The Cru held that lead for 20 minutes before Santiago Nunez scored the equalizer for the War Hawks in the 35
th minute. The game remained scoreless from there, playing through the regulation with no scored goals.
Ethan Buchanan scored the game-winner for UMHB in the 98
th minute, scoring an unassisted goal for the 2-1 win in his collegiate scoring debut.
Roach led the Cru with five shots followed by Bleamaster with three. UMHB totaled 18 shots with 11 on frame while the War Hawks had eight shots with six on frame.
Ethan Rimbey and
Dalton Lloyd split time in goal for the Cru. Rimbey went 45 minutes with one goal allowed while Lloyd went 53 minutes with four saves and no goals allowed. Angel Salazar took the loss for the War Hawks, giving up two goals and making six saves in the full 97 minute contest.
The Cru returns to action on Monday, March 8
th in a 3:30 p.m. game at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
