BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged Belhaven University 1-0 Friday afternoon to advance to the semifinal round of the 2020-21 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
UMHB outshot the Blazers 5-2 in the first half of play but neither team was able to score. The second half played scoreless until the 68
th minute when
Kristen Burdick converted a penalty kick for a 1-0 UMHB lead. The Cru limited the Blazers to just two shots in the second half with goalkeeper
Emmy McMaude making two huge saves.
McMaude earned the win in the net for UMHB with three saves while Lauren Knorr took the loss for Belhaven with one goal allowed and six saves. Burdick and
Emily Blaettner led UMHB with two shots while Burdick put two on frame.
UMHB advances to the semifinal round of the 2020-21 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship tournament. The Cru will face tournament-host UT Dallas on Thursday, April 8
th. The championship match of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 10
th.
