BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team opened the 2021 season with a 3-0 win over Texas Lutheran University Wednesday evening in Belton.
The first half played scoreless with UMHB outshooting the Bulldogs 7-2 in the first 45 minutes of action. The game remained scoreless until the 63
rd minute when
Kristen Burdick scored of a ricocheted corner kick to give the Cru a 1-0 lead.
Tyler Pierce punched in a corner kick from Gabby Gibon in the 74th minute to put the Cru up by two before
Kelsey White scored off an another Gibson assist for the Cru's third goal in the the 87
th minute.
UMHB totaled 18 shots in the contest, putting eight shots on frame. UMHB's defense limited the Bulldogs to just two total shots, completely shutting down the Bulldog offense in the second half. White,
Chandler Jackson and
Maria Rico led the Cru with three shots each while White and Jackson both put a team-high two shots on frame.
Reagan Williams and
Ainsley Westlake split time at goalkeeper for UMHB. Williams opened the contest and made two saves in the first half.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, September 6
th in a 7 p.m. contest at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
