HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team routed the University of St. Thomas (Houston) 8-0 Saturday evening in Houston. UMHB improved to 3-1 on the season while the Celts fell to 0-5 on the year.
Maria Rico opened scoring in the 14
th minute, scoring on an assist from
Grace Greenly to put the Cru up.
Kennedy Harris added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 40
th minute off an
Emi Velez assist.
UMHB added six more goals in the second half of action. Greenly scored on an assist from
Gabby Gibson in the 57
th minute before Gibson scored one for herself in the 59
th minute. Rico and Velez both added goals in the 65
th and 77
th minutes before
Ashley Vensel scored at 83:13 and
Tyler Pierce found the back of the net at 85:10.
Emi Velez,
Natalie Mason,
Maria Rico and
Tyler Pierce led the Cru with three shots each while Velez led with three shots on frame. UMHB outshot the Celts 27-4 in the contest, allowing just one shot on frame. UMHB scored eight goals on six assists and put 16 shots on frame.
The Cru returns to action on Friday, September 17
th in a 7:30 p.m. match against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
