HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team routed the University of St. Thomas (Houston) 8-0 Saturday evening in Houston. UMHB improved to 3-1 on the season while the Celts fell to 0-5 on the year.
 
Maria Rico opened scoring in the 14^th minute, scoring on an assist from Grace Greenly to put the Cru up. Kennedy Harris added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 40^th minute off an Emi Velez assist.
 
UMHB added six more goals in the second half of action.  Greenly scored on an assist from Gabby Gibson in the 57^th minute before Gibson scored one for herself in the 59^th minute. Rico and Velez both added goals in the 65^th and 77^th minutes before Ashley Vensel scored at 83:13 and Tyler Pierce found the back of the net at 85:10.
 
Emi Velez, Natalie Mason, Maria Rico and Tyler Pierce led the Cru with three shots each while Velez led with three shots on frame. UMHB outshot the Celts 27-4 in the contest, allowing just one shot on frame. UMHB scored eight goals on six assists and put 16 shots on frame.
 
The Cru returns to action on Friday, September 17^th in a 7:30 p.m. match against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
