BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team extended its win streak to 13-0 with a 3-0 sweep over Belhaven University Monday evening in Belton.
UMHB pulled ahead in the first set with a 9-2 run, cruising to a 25-17 win. The Cru mirrored that performance in the second set, using another 9-2 run to earn a 25-16 win and sealed the sweep with a 25-13 win in the third.
"A home win is great," Head Coach
Mark Pryor said. "Belhaven is much improved since the first time we played them so that was great to see. That's a good thing for the conference."
Lauren Williams led the Cru with 10 kills while
Hannah Frasca added eight. UMHB hit .245 against the Blazers with 36 total kills.
Alli Pierce led UMHB with 28 assists and four aces. Defensively, Frasca led the Cru with 15 kills followed by Pierce with 14 and
Alyssa Christiansen with 11. UMHB limited the Blazers to a .039 percentage in the match. The Cru totaled eight service aces, 53 digs and four team blocks.
UMHB returns to action with a pair of home matches this weekend. The Cru faces off against Howard Payne on Friday, October 1
st at 6:00 p.m. before an 11:00 a.m. match against Sul Ross State on Saturday.
