MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team shutout East Texas Baptist University 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Marshall. The Cru improved to 9-0 on the season and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference play while the Tigers fall to 6-4-1 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Annika Engstrom scored the game-winner for the Cru in the 39th minute. UMHB held that 1-0 lead through halftime until
Maria Rico scored an insurance goal off a
Grace Greenly assist at 55:45.
UMHB outshot the Tigers 18-5 in the match, putting nine total shots on frame. Rico led the Cru with five shots, followed by
Natalie Mason with three. UMHB's defense limited the Tigers to just one shot on frame.
Reagan Williams earned the shutout win for the Cru with one save in the contest.
UMHB returns to action Thursday, October 6
