CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team defeated the University of the Ozarks 3-1 in Clarksville Saturday afternoon. The win improved the Cru to 12-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in American Southwest Conference play while the Eagles fell to 1-9-2 on the season and 0-4-1 in league action.
The Eagles were the first on the board with a quick goal by Kaitlyn McMahan. UMHB answered in the 23
rd minute with a
Maria Rico score on an assist from
Tanner Jarzombek. The Cru retook the lead in the 66
th minute on a
Kristen Burdick penalty kick goal. UMHB used another Burdick score from a
Yuliana Cruz assist to extend the advantage in the 82
nd minute. The Cru backline only allowed one shot in the second half to secure the 3-1 victory.
UMHB outshot the Eagles 19-2, with 13 on frame. The Cru was led by
Breland Mungia and
Kaileigh Duncan with three shots each while five crusaders added two each.
The Cru returns to action Thursday, October 20
th in a 5:00 p.m. contest against McMurry University in Belton.
