BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team used three first-half scores to earn a 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons University Saturday in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 11-1-2 on the season and 7-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cowboys moved to 5-7-3 overall and 4-3-0 in league action.
Patrick Roach put the Cru up early, scoring off an assist from
Brody Conley in the sixth minute.
Ben Platt followed that with a ricochet goal in the 19
th minute before Conley scored unassisted in the 20
th minute.
Hardin-Simmons outshot the Cru 14-11 in the match, putting 11 on frame. Goalkeeper
Dalton Lloyd made nine saves in the shutout with UMHB's backline adding two team saves. The Cru put eight shots on frame, led by
Sam Wooding and Platt with two each.
UMHB sits atop the conference leaderboard at 7-0-1 with a four-point lead over Concordia University Texas. The Cru and the Tornados face off on Saturday, October 29
th in a 3:30 p.m. contest in Round Rock.
