LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team earned a 73-37 win over LeTourneau University Thursday evening in Longview.
UMHB opened the game with 17 unanswered points in the first quarter, cruising to a 23-3 lead at the end of the first frame. The Cru maintained a double-digit lead through the second quarter, allowing the YellowJackets just eight total points. UMHB totaled 17 points off the bench in the first two quarters with 16 points off turnovers.
The Cru extended the lead to 30+ points early in the third quarter and led by as many as 44 points with 1:09 left in the frame. UMHB limited LeTourneau to just 26 points in the second half to secure the 73-37 win.
Arieona Rosborough and
Weade Adeleke led with nine points each while
Ashley Faux and
Kenna Gibson each added eight. UMHB made 25 field goals in the game with six three pointers and 17 foul shots. The Cru shot 39.7 percent in the match, highlighted to a 56.2 percentage in the third quarter.
Lauren Baker and
Katelen Brooks each brought down six rebounds while Baker also added a team-high three assists. Twenty-three total Crusaders saw action in the contest with 14 scoring points for UMHB.
The Cru totaled 33 points off turnovers with 42 points from the bench and 28 points in the paint. UMHB limited LeTourneau to just eight points off turnovers and only three second-chance scores.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, December 10
th in a 1:00 p.m. contest at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
