Ben Allen earned his first collegiate win as head coach in a 2-0 win over University of Houston-Victoria Thursday afternoon in Victoria.
Jack Bryan gave the Cru a 1-0 lead in the 31
st minute, scoring on an assist from
Daniel Lyon. UMHB held a 1-0 lead through the first half, giving up just three shots to the Jaguars. Bryan helped the Cru to another goal in the second half, assisting a
Patrick Roach score for a 2-0 UMHB advantage. The Cru held on to that lead, giving up just three second-half shots and securing the season-opening win.
Daniel Lyon led the Cru with two shots while Bryan, Roach,
Alex Gonzalez and
Chase Cherrington each added one.
Dalton Lloyd made three saves in his 90-minute shutout victory.
Allen praised his team afterward, saying he was proud of the way they played. The Cru returns to action on Saturday, September 3
rd in a 7 p.m. contest at University of St. Thomas-Houston.
