JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team defeated Belhaven University 3-1 on Saturday evening in Jackson. The Cru improved to 6-0 on the season while the Blazers fell to 2-2-2.
UMHB took the first lead with a goal from
Yuliana Cruz in the 30
th minute. The Blazers scored the equalizer five minutes into the second half but the Cru took advantage back with a game-winning goal from
Ashley Vensel in the 79
th minute.
Kennedy Harris scored an insurance goal three minutes later off a
Maria Rico assist, putting the Cru up 3-1 for the win.
UMHB totaled 18 shots led by Vensel with three, all on frame. The Cru defense held the Blazers to just four shots in the contest while UMHB goalkeeper
Reagan Williams recorded two saves on the night.
The Cru returns to action on Wednesday, September 21
st in a 7:00 p.m. contest against Southwestern in the first home contest of the season. Admission to UMHB soccer games is free.
