ABILENE, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept McMurry University 3-0 Friday evening in Abilene. The win improved the Cru to 22-1 on the season and 10-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the War Hawks fell to 1-20Â overall and 0-11 in conference action.

The first set played back-and-forth before the Cru used a 4-0 run to take an 8-6 lead. McMurry pulled within one before UMHB constructed a 4-1 run to lead by four points. The War Hawks tied the set at 13 but the Cru responded, outscoring McMurry 6-1 to lead at 19-14. UMHB held that lead through the duration of the set, cruising to a 25-18 first-set win.

The second set opened in a 2-2 tie before UMHB scored four unanswered points for a 6-2 margin. McMurry brought the set within one point before another unanswered four points put the Cru up 12-7. UMHB gained distance on the War Hawks with a 5-1 run and closed the set with seven consecutive points for a 25-14 win.

UMHB opened the third set with a point and held onto the lead until McMurry scored seven unanswered points halfway through for a 15-13 margin. UMHB tied the set again at 16 before the War Hawks went up 19-16. The Cru responded, scoring six unanswered points for a 22-19 lead, eventually sealing the sweep with a 25-22 third-set victory.

Katie Warden led the Cru with nine kills, followed by
Hannah Frasca and
Dravyn Hurd with eight each. UMHB hit .290 in the match with 37 kills on 93 total attacks.
Ella Brunson and
Kendall Harrington split time at setter, combining for 29 total assists while Brunson served a team-high three aces. Frasca was the Cru's defensive leader, totaling 13 digs while
Natalie Hughes led the team with three total blocks. UMHB limited McMurry to a .048 hitting percentage in the match with 28 kills on 104 attacks.

st in a 1 p.m. contest at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
