BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Concordia University Texas Saturday evening in Belton. The loss dropped the Cru to 9-4-2 on the season and 7-1-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Tornados improved to 8-6-2 overall and 6-1-1 in league play.<br />

Jose Aguirre gave the Tornados a lead in the 14<sup>th</sup> minute, converting a penalty kick for a one-goal lead. Concordia Texas outshot the Cru 7-3 in the first half of action, putting three shots on frame.<br />

The Tornados added another score in the 52<sup>nd</sup> minute when Aguirre found Antonio Rios for a two-goal margin. UMHB cut into that lead in the 56<sup>th</sup> minute with a penalty kick goal from
Alex Bethke. UMHB saw some solid offensive chances in the second half but wasn't able to equalize, giving the Tornados a 2-1 win.<br />

Karsen Macias led the Cru with three shots while Bethke and
Ethan Buchanan each added two. UMHB totaled 11 shots in the contest with four on frame while the Tornados had 12 total shots and five on target.
Hayden Owens took the loss in the net, allowing two goals with three saves while Brock Hendrickson earned the win for Concordia, making three saves.<br />

UMHB returns to action as the No. 1 seed in the 2023 American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Cru earned a first-round bye and will open postseason play in a 5 p.m. match on Thursday, November 2<sup>nd</sup>. The semifinal and final rounds of the tournament will be played at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.<br />
