ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team secured its spot in the American Southwest Conference Championship match, defeating McMurry University 2-1 Thursday evening in Abilene. The win secured the Cru a spot in the conference final on Saturday. UMHB improved to 16-0-1 on the year with the win while the Warhawks fell to 11-4-5 overall.
UMHB outshot the Warhawks 13-10 in the first half, putting eight total shots on frame. Mackenzie Worthy recorded two shots in the half while six other Crusaders each putting one on goal.
Kelsey White put the Cru on the board in the 35th minute, scoring off of an assist from Constance White for a one-goal lead. UMHB's defense held the War Hawks scoreless to keep the lead going into halftime.

Mackenzie Worthy added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 48th minute, putting UMHB up by two.
Brooklyn Grove cut the gap for the War Hawks in the 69th minute, sailing a shot into the goal with the assist from Emily Holland. The War Hawks continued to battle but UMHB held on for the 2-1 win.
Mackenzie Worthy led the Cru with four shots while Ella Ruff and Constance White each put up two. Reagan Williams earned the win in the net for UMHB, allowing one goal with three saves. Lauren Marlow and Cortlynn Boone split time in the net for the War Hawks, each allowing one goal and three saves.
UMHB continues their postseason run in the 2023 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Cru will play the winner of the match between #2 seed Hardin-Simmons and #3 seed Howard Payne in the Championship match on Saturday, November 4th at 6 pm in Abilene.
