BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Baseball team fell to Sul Ross State University 13-4 Friday afternoon in Belton.

The Lobos opened the contest with a pair of three-run frames before exploding with a seven-run third inning. UMHB got on the board with back-to-back homeruns from
Warren Sammons and
Tyler Martin in the bottom of the third.
Sam Muniga added one more in the same frame, scoring on a passed ball to cut the gap to ten.

The Cru continued to chip at the gap in the bottom of the fifth when an RBI single from Farmer brought Sammons home. UMHB kept the top of the sixth scoreless, highlighted by a double play from Muniga and
Rhett Grosz. The Cru defense continued to hold the Lobos in the seventh only allowing one baserunner. UMHB was unable to score again in the final frame and fell 13-4 to the Lobos.

Andrew Acierni started on the mound for the Cru, taking the loss after giving up two runs. Gage Cobb recorded the win for the Lobos pitching five innings with four runs on five hits. UMHB had five more pitching appearances with five strikeouts and 13 hits allowed. The Cru totaled seven hits led by Muniga with two hits.

The Cru was unable to complete the second game of the doubleheader and will return to action in the bottom of the second inning tomorrow at noon in Belton.
