BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team defeated University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 3-1 Saturday night in Belton. The Cru improved to 6-0 on the season while the Pointers fell to 1-6 overall.
UMHB got on the board first in the 31st minute on a penalty kick from Mackenzie Worthy. Constance White added another score in the 40th minute on an assist from Peyton Floyd to close the half up 2-0.
The Cru opened the second half with a goal by Jayme Dowell from outside of the box at the 49th minute mark to go ahead 3-0. The Pointers added a score in the 87th minute to cut the game to two. UMHB held the Pointers through the final minutes to claim the 3-1 victory.
UMHB totaled 25 shots in the contest with 13 on frame. Worthy led the way for the Cru with five shots and two on goal. Ainsley Westlake and Morgan Oliver split time in the net, each recording one save.
UMHB returns to action September 25th in a 7:00 p.m. match against Trinity University (Texas) in San Antonio.
