Men’s Soccer falls to Texas Lutheran

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor mens' soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Texas Lutheran University Friday night in Belton. The loss dropped the Cru to 1-1-1 while the Bulldogs moved to 3-0. 

Texas Lutheran took a first-half lead with a goal from Caleb McCausland in the 38th minute. The Bulldogs tacked on an insurance goal in the 60th minute when Louis Hart scored off a header, assisted by Jack Manke. UMHB's offense fought back but wasn't able to score, surrendering the two-goal loss to the Bulldogs. 

Ethan Dacaret, Alex Bethke and Sawyer Young each recorded two shots in the contest while four other Crusaders added one. UMHB put up five shots in the first half and five in the second. The Bulldogs opened the contest with 10 shots in the first half before UMHB limited their second-half offense to just four. Ethan Hilliard took the loss for the Cru, allowing two goals with three saves in a full 90-minute contest while Noel Pena earned the win for the Bulldogs. Pena made five saves in the contest. 

UMHB continues action on Sunday, September 10th in a 6 p.m. home match against No. 17 University of St. Thomas (Texas). The Cru will also face Austin College in home action on Thursday, September 14th.
