Men’s Soccer plays LeTourneau to 1-1 draw

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team played LeTourneau University in a 1-1 tie Thursday evening in Belton. The tie moved the Cru to 5-5-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Yellow Jackets fell to 4-3-4 overall and 1-1-2 in league play.
 
LeTourneau got on the board late in the first half when Caleb Bransford scored off an assist from Diego Enriquez for a 1-0 lead. UMHB outshot the YellowJackets 9-7 in the frame as both teams put four shots on goal.
 
UMHB evened the contest in the 62nd minute when Peyton Hoyt headed in a cross from Chase Cherrington. The Cru had several scoring opportunities late in the match but wasn't able to score, ending the game in the one-goal knot.
 
Karsen Macias totaled seven shots in the contest, followed by Aidan Aguilera with five. UMHB totaled 22 shots in the contest, putting 10 on frame. The Cru defense limited the YellowJackets to just five shots on frame in the contest. Hayden Owens played the full 90-minutes in the net, making four saves with just one goal allowed.
 
The Cru returns to action on Saturday, October 12th in a 7:30 p.m. contest against East Texas Baptist University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
