BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team blanked East Texas Baptist University 1-0 Saturday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 6-5-2 overall and 3-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action while Tigers fell to 6-6-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in league play.
Carter Simpson gave the Cru an early lead, scoring off a pass from
Aidan Aguilera in the sixth minute. UMHB held the margin through the half, outshooting the Tigers 8-1 in the frame.
Neither team was able to score in the final half of action, ending the contest with a 1-0 Cru victory. UMHB totaled 14 shots in the contest, led by
Carter Simpson and
Nicholas Arellano with three each. Arellano also led the Cru with two shots on frame as UMHB totaled five.
The Cru defense did not allow a single shot on frame in the first half and ended with just two in the match.
Hayden Owens played the full 90-minutes in goal, making two saves.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 19
th in a 7:30 p.m. match at the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson.
