BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball lost to East Texas Baptist University 3-0 Friday evening in Belton. The Cru's record falls to 18-5 overall and 3-4 in conference while the Tigers remain undefeated in conference play, improving to 6-0 in the league with an 18-1 overall record.
The game opened with a kill from
Kendall Harrington to give the Cru a 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived as ETBU took control for the remainder of the set, cruising to a 25-21 win. The second set began in the same manner as the first; a kill from
Kendall Harrington for the Cru's 1-0 lead. UMHB could not capitalize on the early lead and fell to the Tigers 25-17. The Cru again got on the board first in the third set, playing back-and-forth with the Tigers until the 5-5 mark when ETBU went on a four-point run to lead 9-5. UMHB responded tying it up at 12 but could not secure the lead beyond that point, falling 25-18 in the final set.
Natalie Hughes led the Cru offensively, tallying eight kills on the night. Four Crusaders each tallied five kills on the night with
Raylee Schaffner hitting five with a .444 attack percentage.
Caitlyn Ellenburg tacked on seven digs and 14 assists in the match while
Kendall Harrington added 15 assists and five digs of her own.
The Cru returns to action Saturday, October 19
th in a home match against LeTourneau University at 1:00 PM.
