BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball defeated LeTourneau University in a four-set match Saturday afternoon in Belton. The Cru's record improved to 19-5 on the season with an even record of 4-4 in American Southwest Conference play while the YellowJackets fall to a 9-13 season record and 2-4 in league play.
UMHB took the win in the first set after back-and-forth play with LeTourneau through the eight-point mark. The YellowJackets fell behind and were unable to catch up with
Baylee Mobley securing the 25-17 win with a trio of consecutive kills. The second set played evenly until the 12-12 mark when the YellowJackets went on a five-point run to hold the 17-15 lead. The Cru could not come back from the differential and dropped the set 25-19. Two kills from
Natalie Hughes and one from
Baylee Mobley gave UMHB an early 5-1 lead in the third set. The Cru maintained the lead for the remainder of the set, winning 25-17. LeTourneau capitalized on some Cru service and blocking errors to obtain a lead in the fourth through the 8-6 point. UMHB quickly responded with a six-point run including two service aces from
Caitlyn Ellenburg and two kills from
Kendall Harrington. The Cru held the high ground, securing the match win with a kill from
Sifa Olang to close out at 25-21.
Kendall Harrington added another double-double to her career with 22 assists and 10 kills in the match.
Baylee Mobley led the Cru offensively with 11 kills and four service aces, while
Caiden Lasala led defensively with 22 digs.
The Cru returns to action on Wednesday, October 23
rd in a 6:00 PM match at Schreiner University in Kerrville.
