BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned a two-goal decision of Hardin-Simmons University Saturday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 8-6-2 on the season and 5-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cowboys fell to 9-5-2 overall and 5-2-0 in conference play.
Aidan Aguilera put UMHB on the board in the 25th minute, scoring an unassisted goal for a 1-0 lead. The Cru held that advantage through the half with both teams recording six shots.
Karsen Macias added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 61st minute, finding the back of the net off a pass from Carter Simpson for a 2-0 lead. UMHB's held off a late offensive surge from the Cowboys to secure the win.
The Cru outshot the Cowboys 12-11 in the contest, putting seven total shots on frame. Macias led the Cru with seven shots with four on goal while Carter Simpson added two. Hayden Owens earned the win in the net, making seven saves in the full 90-minute contest.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 31st in a 7:30 p.m. contest at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
