ABILENE, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer dropped a regular-season match to Hardin-Simmons University in a 2-1 final Thursday evening in Abilene. The Cru's record falls to 6-2-1 on the season with a conference record of 0-1. The Cowgirls' season moves to 8-1-2 with a 3-0 mark in conference play.
The first half of the match was scoreless on both sides of the field, despite the Cru out-shooting the Cowgirls 8-6. The Cru entered the second half with a
Kelsey White go-ahead goal in the 57
th minute off an assist from
Allie Angell. The Cowgirls responded quickly with a 69
th minute equalizer to tie the game at one. Hardin-Simmons then scored the game-winner off a corner kick in the 82
nd minute to round out scoring for the match.
Despite the loss, the Cru totaled 21 shots on the night, holding the Cowgirls to just 12.
Natalie Mason was the leader in shots, tallying four in the contest.
Kelsey White and
Allie Angell followed with three shots each.
Trinity Hoffmann led in shots on goal putting two on the board, with five other Crusaders each adding one.
Emma Edwards spent all 90 minutes in the net, tallying four saves.
