LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team won its fourth consecutive American Southwest Conference regular-season title with a 4-1 win over LeTourneau University Saturday night in Longview. The win moved the Cru to 10-6-2 overall and 7-0-1 in ASC action while the YellowJackets fell to 4-8-5 on the season and 1-4-3 in league play.
Sawyer Young scored the go-ahead goal for the Cru, netting one into the high center of the goal for the 1-0 lead in the 23
rd minute. LeTourneau evened the contest in the 36
th minute off a goal from Jonas Coyle before
Zachary Paclibar scored on a pass from
Xjavier Martinez for a 2-0 Cru lead with 56 seconds left to play in the second half.
UMHB outshot the YellowJackets 11-6 in the frame with
Nicholas Arellano recording a team-high three shots.
Martinez added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 61
st minute, scoring off a double assist from
Rhett Rapuzzi and
Nicholas Arellano.
Mason Munoz scored the Cru's final goal, netting one into low center with less than 50 seconds to play in the match.
UMHB totaled 17 shots in the contest, putting 10 on frame. The Cru defense limited LeTourneau to just 10 shots in the match and only four on frame.
Ethan Hilliard and
Hayden Owens split time in the net for the Cru with Hilliard making one save and Owens adding two.
